complete range of tools and logistics services that will help operators better
satisfy their customers. These tools can be found in the phone shops or can be
directly sent to the subscriber's home.
Personalization services
Personalization is the stage of the SIM
card manufacturing process when a SIM card is actually linked to a particular
cardholder by associating it with data unique to the subscriber. Gemplus
provides a global and complete range of personalization services within a highly
secured environment. Our experts are on hand to optimize the technology and
processes that best suit the customers’ requirements delivering security,
quality, and timeliness at every stage of the process.
Packaging services
In order to ease your card delivery, Gemplus has created a complete packaging
offer. This activity covers the card body options, graphical
personalization, SimScratch, PIN mailer, card carriers and a ready to ship kit (GemPack)
to take the SIM to the end-user.
Distribution & Solutions Services - 3G ready
End-users
are being tempted by new services (multimedia content, MP3, etc.) and the
latest color phones and if they decide to upgrade their mobile they will
often need a more powerful SIM card. However, people become more willing
to do so if they can keep the personal data stored on their SIM.
This is why Gemplus offers a range of solutions for card management and
service delivery solutions and software products for use in the phone
shop (see our Retail
offer) and also at home. With the launch of the
new 3G version of MySIMcopier and
MySIMeditor
Gemplus Distribution Solutions & Services offer is now ready for 3G.
While our hardware offer concentrates on card data copying to ease SIM
replacement, our software can diagnose problems and deliver new services
via POS or OTA throughout the card lifecycle.

In 2004, Orange Communication S.A. ran a SIM card renewal
program. Direct mail was used to deploy a range of new mobile
services. Gemplus assisted in the management of the direct
mailing campaign to final customers. Data-file treatment,
personalization and packaging of the card as well as sending
the cards via the chosen postal method were some of the tasks.

Mobistar

In Belgium,
Mobistar undertook a renewal campaign targeting their
valuable, residential users. They sent a new SIM card with a
Gemplus MySIMcopier, enabling these users to transfer their
personal data (phonebook and SMS) in total security. They have
also deployed MySIMeditor, a PC-based SIM management tool for
its corporate users and are already seeing the return on
investment through increased customer satisfaction.
